A few years ago, I was working with an incredible career coach and he kept using the term “curiosity”. I admit I wasn’t entirely sure what that meant exactly at the time but I assure you I was curious about it.Since then, I keep seeing this word in leadership conversations, around strategy tables and organizational culture work. It’s no longer a casual, nice-to-have feature but instead an essential-for-the-future-of-work staple.The current climate of our world is one where artificial intelligence can process, produce and predict faster than any human ever could. The value we bring is no longer in simply knowing but how think, question and connect.<h4>Curiosity as the Counterbalance to AI</h4>As AI takes on more of our routine tasks, something interesting is happening with our human value is shifting toward “what if?” thinking.<ul><li>What are we missing?</li><li>What else could this be?</li><li>Why is this happening in the first place?</li></ul>This curiosity is becoming the driver of innovation and not just applying knowledge, displaying the difference between executing a task and reimagining the system behind it.<h4>The Antidote to Disengagement</h4>In the workplace, and community in general, we’re seeing historically low levels of engagement. People feel disconnected, burnt out and are just going through the motions.
